PM Modi Launches 100-Week Nasha Mukt Yuva Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, a 100-week campaign focused on encouraging India’s young population to stay away from substance abuse and adopt healthier lifestyles. The campaign was launched during a nationwide video conference, with more than one crore young citizens connecting from over 28,000 locations. The initiative aims to make youth participation a key part of India’s larger vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Speaking to young people across the country, PM Modi described them as India’s “Amrit generation” and highlighted the importance of their energy, talent and ideas in shaping the country’s future. He stressed that a developed India needs a generation that is physically healthy, mentally strong and confident. The campaign, therefore, focuses not only on awareness about substance abuse but also on positive activities that can keep young people engaged.

The initiative will run for 100 weeks, with activities planned every Sunday around art, culture, sports and meditation. According to the campaign’s vision, these regular activities will bring more young people into the movement and encourage them to make healthier choices. PM Modi also spoke about the role of yoga, meditation, community support and rehabilitation centres in helping people overcome addiction.

The campaign has its roots in a pilot initiative launched in Kashi last year and has now expanded into a nationwide movement. At SGT University, Gurugram, the Prime Minister’s address was screened live for students, faculty members and staff. The programme created an opportunity for the university community to come together around the message of responsible and healthy living.

Haryana Minister Rao Narbir Singh was also present at the event. Addressing the gathering, he spoke about the role of young people in building a developed India and urged them to stay away from substance abuse. He also administered the Nasha Mukt Yuva Pledge, with students, faculty and staff reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free society.

With youth at the centre of the campaign, the message is simple: building a stronger India also means building healthier communities. Through 100 weeks of awareness, participation and positive activities, the initiative aims to turn the idea of a drug-free India into a shared public commitment.
