India Shines at Asian Games 2026 with Double Podium Finish in Javelin
India continued its medal-winning campaign at the Asian Games 2026, with Indian athletes delivering notable performances across athletics and shooting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India’s medallists and praised their performances, extending his wishes for continued success at the continental sporting event.
In men’s javelin throw, Indian athletes Yashvir and Rohit produced a double podium finish. Yashvir secured the silver medal with a personal best throw of 85.72 metres, while Rohit claimed the bronze medal with a throw measuring 84.35 metres.
The achievement added to India’s presence on the athletics podium and highlighted the country’s strong representation in field events at the Games.
India also secured a silver medal in the women’s trap team event. The Indian team comprising Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer finished second in the competition, earning India another medal in shooting.
Neeru Dhanda further advanced her campaign in the individual event after qualifying for the final. She finished joint-top in the 125-shot qualification round, setting up an opportunity to compete for an individual medal.
The performances across javelin and shooting have added to India’s medal tally at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The results also reflect the depth of Indian participation across multiple sporting disciplines.
