SGT University Organizes Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights, Innovation and Commercialization

SGT University successfully organized an insightful workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights: Awareness, Protection & Commercialization,” aimed at strengthening awareness about intellectual property protection and promoting a culture of innovation and research commercialization.
The workshop was jointly organized by the university’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell under the aegis of the Research and Development Cell, in collaboration with the Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation & Technology, Government of Haryana.
The programme featured expert sessions by Shri Rajneesh Pratap Singh, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs at the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, Government of India, and Dr. Rahul Taneja, Scientist at the Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of Haryana, and a registered Patent and Trademark Agent.
The sessions provided participants with practical insights into various forms of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and industrial designs. The experts also discussed patent filing and prosecution, technology transfer, and the commercial potential of research and innovation.
The workshop highlighted the importance of identifying, protecting and managing intellectual property at different stages of the research process. Participants gained a better understanding of how innovative ideas and research outcomes can be protected while being translated into solutions that create meaningful societal and commercial value.
An interactive session further enriched the programme, allowing participants to raise questions and seek clarification on patentability, filing procedures, IPR protection, technology transfer and commercialization. The exchange encouraged informed discussions and helped connect theoretical concepts with practical challenges faced by researchers and innovators.
The initiative marks another important step in SGT University’s continued efforts to strengthen its intellectual property and innovation ecosystem. By promoting awareness among faculty members, researchers and students, the university aims to encourage a research culture that extends beyond academic publication towards intellectual property protection, practical application and commercialization.

Through such initiatives, SGT University continues to support innovation, knowledge creation and the responsible translation of research into impactful outcomes.
