FMMT Students Document Republic Day Practice at Kartavya Path

The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology (FMMT), SGT University, recently organized an extraordinary experiential learning activity for its students by taking them to Kartavya Path, Delhi. The students covered the practice session for the Republic Day Parade 2025 and worked on a documentary to showcase the event’s grandeur and patriotic significance.

This immersive experience offered students the chance to witness the precision and discipline of the armed forces and other participants. It served as a real-world platform to refine their skills in news reporting, documentary filmmaking, and visual storytelling.

Covering such a high-scale event requires sharp journalistic instincts, technical expertise, and adaptability—skills that the students embraced wholeheartedly. They were involved in a variety of media production tasks, including conducting interviews with personnel, capturing compelling visuals, scripting narratives, and editing content.

The activity also provided a comprehensive understanding of challenges faced in the field, such as tight deadlines, fluctuating lighting conditions, and the spontaneity required for on-the-spot reporting. Students enhanced their capabilities in event documentation, production workflows, and effective storytelling under these conditions.

This initiative underscores FMMT’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic concepts and professional realities. By engaging students in industry-aligned learning, the faculty ensures that they are not just academically sound but also industry-ready to thrive in fields like journalism, digital media, and broadcasting.

The dedication, enthusiasm, and creativity shown by the students in documenting the practice session were commendable. Their work stands as a testament to the impact of experiential learning in shaping media professionals.
