Faculty of Dental Sciences organized an Academic cum Industrial Visit to Water Treatment Plant at Basai, Gurugram

INNOVA8 Oral Health Care, An Academic Association constituted under the aegis of
Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized
an Academic cum Industrial Visit to Water Treatment Plant at Basai, Gurugram for BDS Final
Year Students on 28th April 2023 (Friday). The Department took the initiative of this field visit
under the guidance of Dr. Shourya Tandon (Associate Dean and Prof. and Head). The group
of 66 BDS students was led by faculty members Dr. Charu Khurana (Reader, Department
of Public Health Dentistry) and Dr. Ankita Yadav (Senior Lecturer, Department of Public
Health Dentistry) along with attendant Mr. Rajkumar.
The field trip was designed to expose students to water treatment unit operations, use of
hydraulic equipment (pumps, flumes, etc) and environment regulations. Also, the students
learnt the water quality parameters so that the safe water can be supplied for consumption.
This visit was conducted as a part of the curriculum of the Department of Public Health
Dentistry. The experience proved to be useful for students as they learnt the insight about
water treatment process and drinking water quality.
