Haryana fully activated to combat new Covid-19 variant Omicron, says Health Minister Anil Vij

Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said on Friday that the Health Department has been fully activated to fight the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron. The officers and employees of the Health Department have worked successfully in the last two waves.

Vij was replying to a question asked by media persons here today regarding the new variant. He informed that about 90 PSA oxygen plants have been set up in the state and orders have been given to bring them under operation. Similarly, genome sequence is required for the investigation of new variants of the virus, and for its detection, the Rockefeller organization has provided a machine free of cost to Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, which has been made operational. He said that the work of genome sequencing has started through this machine. Vij said that earlier all samples had to be sent to Delhi for genome sequencing and there used to be delay in genome sequence detection in Delhi.

All DCs, CPs, IGs, SPs of the state ordered to follow COVID-19 protocol – Vij

The Health Minister said that the state is fully prepared to fight the Omicron variant. Apart from this, orders have been issued to all the Deputy Commissioners of Police, Police Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police and Superintendents of Police in the state that in order to prevent spread of the virus rules of COVID-19 protocol should be strictly followed. If anyone is found violating these rules such as wearing masks and violating social distancing etc., then they will be challaned.

Inspect public meetings and social programmes

Apart from this, he said that the SOPs or guidelines issued by the state government for public meetings and social programs etc., whether indoor and outdoor, that is, the latest SOPs, should be strictly followed. Apart from this, inspection of such public meetings or social programmes should also be conducted by any officer of the district. He said that whatever measures have to be taken for the well being and health of the people, it will be taken.

Orders issued to operate ventilators in all hospitals with more than 100 beds capacity

In response to another question, the Health Minister said that orders have also been issued to operate ventilators in all hospitals with a capacity of more than 100 beds so that any emergency can be dealt with. He said that we have ventilators, but wh wherever there was a problem of manpower, orders for re-adjustment have also been issued.

Vij orders health teams to monitor passengers coming from abroad

Responding to a question regarding passengers coming from abroad, Vij said that all the records of passengers coming from abroad are being kept by the Central Government and the passengers with negative COVID-19 report from there are allowed to go out. The information regarding individuals who have entered the country is given by the Central Government, after that health teams monitor such travelers on a daily basis and check whether they have Influenza Like Illness (ILI) i.e. fever etc. or not. He said that these teams monitor such passengers for a week and if they show symptoms of fever etc., they should be admitted to the hospital.
