Hisar Airport Receives License for Flights to 5 Key Cities, Including Ayodhya

In an important development, Maharaja Agrasen Hisar Airport has received a license to operate domestic flights, making travel to key cities like Ayodhya, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Jammu more convenient for residents of Haryana. This exciting announcement is a Holi gift, with flights expected to commence as early as the first week of April, particularly to Ayodhya, which is a vital destination for devotees visiting the Ram Temple.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officially issued the license, marking a significant milestone for the region’s connectivity. The airport authority had been working towards this approval for quite some time, and after addressing several objections raised during the inspection process, the license was finally granted.

New Routes and Strategic Plans

Hisar Airport will launch its initial phase with a 70-seater aircraft operating flights to the five approved cities. The state government and relevant agencies have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate these operations. The airport’s infrastructure is ready, featuring a 10,000-foot runway and taxiway, and an invitation has been extended to the Prime Minister for the launch event.

Additionally, there are plans to develop an Integrated Marketing Cluster over 2,988 acres near the airport, aimed at boosting regional economic development along with improved travel accessibility.

Future Expansion and Passenger Capacity

The third phase of the airport’s development will introduce a shell-shaped terminal capable of handling 2.1 million passengers annually, with an estimated budget of ₹450 crore. A six-lane road will connect the new terminal to Barwala Chungi, covering an expansive area of 37,970 square meters.

Advanced Navigation Systems Installed

The airport has also installed a Doppler Very High-Frequency Omni Range (DVOR) system, which aids in safely guiding aircraft to their destinations. This state-of-the-art technology is essential for both air traffic controllers and ground staff, ensuring seamless operations.

With this enhanced connectivity, Hisar is poised to become a key travel hub, especially for those heading to religious and cultural destinations like Ayodhya. The airport’s progress reflects Haryana’s evolving infrastructure and its commitment to enhancing public convenience and regional growth.
