“Op Sindoor Was Just a Trailer”: Army Chief Warns Pakistan
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi issued a strong warning to Pakistan, stating that Operation Sindoor was merely a “trailer” of India’s military capabilities. Speaking at the curtain-raiser event of the Chanakya Defence Dialogues in New Delhi on Monday, he emphasized that the Indian Armed Forces are fully prepared to respond to any future provocations.
“Operation Sindoor was just a trailer that concluded in 88 hours. We are ready for any circumstances that may arise in the future. If Pakistan provides an opportunity, we will show them how to behave responsibly toward a neighboring nation,” General Dwivedi asserted.
The Army Chief highlighted three key lessons learned from the operation: rapid decision-making at all command levels, complete integration among all forces, and ensuring a long-term supply of food, weapons, and ammunition. He stressed that modern warfare demands joint operations involving the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Central Armed Police Forces, stating, “Today’s battles are multi-domain. The Army cannot operate alone; all forces must work together.”
General Dwivedi also cautioned that future conflicts may not be brief: “This time, we fought for 88 hours. Next time, it could be four months or even four years. We must ensure that we have sufficient supplies to sustain any war.”
Regarding India’s new strategic policy, he declared that India will no longer tolerate terrorism or blackmail: “When a country sponsors terrorism, it becomes a serious concern. Talks and terrorism cannot coexist. We will treat terrorists and their sponsors equally until responsible behavior is ensured.”
He also noted the improved security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, highlighting a significant decline in terrorist incidents and greater political clarity in the region. The Army Chief stated that India has now established a “new normal”: any nation obstructing India’s progress will face direct action.
The Chanakya Defence Dialogues is a flagship strategic seminar hosted by the Indian Army, bringing together policymakers, military strategists, veterans, and experts from both India and abroad. This year’s theme is “Reform to Transform: Sashakt, Surakshit aur Viksit Bharat.” While the curtain-raiser was held in New Delhi, the main event is scheduled for November 27–28 in the national capital.
