Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University celebrates ‘National Oral Pathologist Day’

The Department of Oral Pathology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, celebrated the National Oral Pathologist Day on 25th February. This day is celebrated every year nationwide as it marks the Birthday of the Legendary oral pathologist Dr. Harnath Mani Shankar Dholakia, who was born on February 25, 1926.
The program was attended by the Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Prof. Omkar Krishna Shetty, faculty members and students.
The introduction was followed by Lamp Lighting by the dignitaries and the entire faculty of the department including Dr. Aparna Dave, Dr. Manpreet Arora, Dr. Mohit Sharma, Dr. Radhika Rai and Dr. Pulin Saluja and the postgraduate students Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Ishita and Dr. Vandana,
The program began with a welcome note by anchor Dr. Radhika Rai, who also spoke about the importance of dentistry. The audience was touched when she said in her speech “As an oral pathologist, you don’t have the patient physically present to keep a hand on his shoulder while reporting a carcinoma but you know that behind those pink n purple cells, is a life and behind that break in the basement membrane is a suffering family.”
Two competitions were organized for the students, one was Mnemonic making and another one was One-act play. Mnemonics were very creative while the one-act play mesmerized the audience. Dr. Sumit Fukela and Dr. Amit Bhardwaj were the judges for the competition.
The welcome address was delivered by Organizing Chairperson of the program: Professor. (Dr.) Aparna Dave. After which the Dean, FDS delivered his address in which he emphasized upon the importance of the oral pathology
The presentations were followed by prize distribution by the dignitaries and was concluded with a vote of thanks by Organising Secretary, Dr. Manpreet Arora.
