Oral health checkup at Gurugram school by SGT University’s dental faculty

SGT University under the initiative taken by SGT Student’s Outreach section organized an extension activity on 10th December 2021 at Yaduvanshi Shiksha Niketan School, Sector 92, Gurugram. The comprehensive drive included Oral Health checkup, Eye Checkup, sensitization to general health principles, career counselling sessions and mass media sensitizations. Each team was represented by concerned teams from Faculty of Dental Sciences, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences & Faculty of Mass Communication & Media Technology.
The Dental team was headed by Dr. Meenakshi (Reader), Dr. Ankita (postgraduate) and Dr. Anjulata and Dr Snigdha Trivedi (postgraduate Pedodontics), along with 4 Interns (Poonam, Sandeep, Vanshita, Sonu) and 1 Attendant (Mr. Sunil). At the drive around 210 individuals were examined for their oral health, which included children along with teachers and support staff from the school. Oral Health Education was imparted regarding the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle through brushing techniques, models and charts. Major oral problems seen in the group related to Dental Caries, Malocclusion and deposits on teeth. Some children also were diagnosed with having teeth with fluorosis.
