Royal Enfield Unveils Its First-Ever Electric Motorcycle – The Flying Flea C6

Royal Enfield has officially unveiled its first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6, marking a historic move into the world of electric mobility. Showcased at the prestigious EICMA 2024 event in Milan, Italy, this debut model under Royal Enfield’s new electric-focused brand “Flying Flea” pays homage to the company’s iconic motorcycle used during World War II. Known for its durability and ability to be airdropped behind enemy lines, the original Flying Flea holds a special place in Royal Enfield’s legacy, and this new model brings that history into the modern age with an electric twist.

The development of the Flying Flea C6 has been in the works for nearly 7-8 years, showcasing Royal Enfield’s commitment to perfecting its entry into the electric segment. Codenamed “Electrik01” during its development, the Flying Flea C6 is built on the newly developed “L” platform, a foundation designed to support the company’s future electric models. The platform is being co-developed with Spanish electric two-wheeler company Stark Future SL, positioning the Flying Flea C6 as a collaborative, globally-engineered model.

Recently, a prototype of the Flying Flea C6 was spotted testing in the streets of Barcelona, Spain. This location has been central to the bike’s design and conceptualization, reflecting a blend of European design sensibilities with Royal Enfield’s rugged aesthetic. Despite its European testing, the Flying Flea C6 has yet to be seen on Indian roads, suggesting that an official launch in India is still a while away.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6: Design

In terms of design, the Flying Flea C6 retains a classic, minimalist aesthetic that resembles its WWII-era predecessor. With low-slung bodywork, a sleek build, round headlamps, and girder-style front forks, the bike stays true to its roots while embracing modern electric capabilities. This isn’t the first time that the original Flying Flea has inspired other Royal Enfield models; in fact, the Classic 350 and Classic 500 models developed in the mid-2000s also drew inspiration from the Flying Flea’s distinct design elements.
