SGT University’s Faculty of Indian Medicine organized virtual Suryanamaskar on Makar Sankranti

In the practice of yoga, Surya Namaskar is a salutation performed to the Sun delivering gratitude and love for the life-giving energy that it provides. The sun symbolizes energy, power, and vitality. As the Surya Nadi or Sun Channel runs along the right side, Begin the Surya Namaskar with right leg first. The Surya Namaskar or the Sun Salutation is best rehearsed early in the morning before sunrise. 

Makar Sankranti is the festival of thanksgiving to Mother Nature for outspreading health, wealth, and happiness around. This is also a time for the growth of the Sun from one phase to another and a time for Sun salutation (in the form of Suryanamsakar) for all of us. 

Surya Namaskar is a powerful procedure to make you more mindful. Regular practice, improves awareness forming a deeper relationship between the body, breath, and consciousness. Beginners can start with 5 cycles a day, and slowly increase it to 11 cycles per day.  

Understanding many benefits of Suryanamaskar such as physical and mental strength, better command over your body, calmness of the mind, balanced energies, and inner peace. 

 As a part of” Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava” (75th year of Indian Independence) Government of India, Ministry of Ayush has organized a large number of virtual Surya namaskar to mark the holy occasion. 

Prof. Dr. Prasanna V Savanur Dean FIMS told that as a part of this splendid event, the Department of Swasthavrittha, Faculty of Indian Medical System, SGT University has arranged a virtual Syuryanamaskar program at D block in which multiple students, teachers, non –teaching staff participated virtually following the covid appropriate behavior as per the guidelines of Government of India

He said that “It is planned that 75 Lakh participants will Practice Surya Namaskar observing Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.

Registered Participants will receive an E certificate from the Ministry of AYUSH Govt of India.” 

 This Makar Sankranti celebrated the beginning of a novel resolve from the global community in making natural resources of energy, like the sun and the surya namaskar, our best and most dependable friends who will help our planet in more than one way.
