SMCF Students Explore Photography and Visual Storytelling at Museo Camera
Students of the School of Emerging Media, Communication and Film Studies (SMCF), SGT University, visited Museo Camera, Centre for the Photographic Arts, in Gurugram, as part of an experiential learning and industry exposure initiative.
The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore the evolution of cameras and photography while gaining a deeper understanding of visual storytelling and creative practices. Moving beyond classroom-based learning, the experience allowed students to observe the development of photographic technology and its role in visual communication.
During the visit, students explored historic cameras, photographic archives and other aspects of the creative industry. The collection offered them an opportunity to understand how photography has evolved over time and how technological developments have influenced the way stories are captured and communicated.
The interaction also exposed students to perspectives from professionals and pioneers associated with the field. Such industry visits can help students understand the practical side of their academic subjects while giving them an opportunity to engage with professionals and learn about creative practices outside the classroom.
For media and film students, photography plays an important role in areas ranging from journalism and filmmaking to advertising, digital content and documentary production. Understanding the development of photographic tools and techniques can therefore provide valuable context for their future work.
