The Department of Public Health Dentistry conducts an Oral Health Workshop and Screening programme
The Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized an Oral Health Workshop and Screening program on Wednesday at Mother’s Pride School, Pataudi. The department has conceptualized this Oral Health Workshop concept this year under the guidance of Dr. Shourya Tandon (Head of Dept & Associate Dean), mainly to comprehensively engage in Oral Health-related awareness and motivation apart from regular dental screenings. The Dental team was headed by Dr. Meenakshi Chopra (Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry) along with 2 postgraduates Dr. Aashi (Orthodontics) and Dr. Tabita (Pedodontics), 8 Interns Nisha, Nikita, Palak, Rashmit, Reetika, Muskan, Garima and Ranika, and 2 attendants Mr. Rajkumar and Mr. Sunil. The Workshop conducted for the students at Mothers pride school witnessed a lot of enthusiasm and interest on the part of students during the interactive session and a quiz on
oral health held by the interns under the guidance of Dr. Meenakshi. Participatory engagement of positive oral health messages along with other correlated health concepts like nutrition, and general health will go a long way in uplifting the health of school children. At the end of the session, a token of appreciation was given to the students for their active participation in the quiz. A total of 298 students were screened, including 165 boys and 133 girls. Students who required dental treatment were referred to SGT Dental hospital for further treatment. Prophylactic aids such as toothbrushes and toothpaste were also distributed to the students. The principal and staff members showed acknowledgment for the informative and resourceful screening process with an appreciation letter and warm hospitality.
