The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized the Interdisciplinary Guest Lecture.

Innova8 Oral Health Care, An Academic Association constituted under the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized the Interdisciplinary Guest Lecture as a part of World Oral Health Day 20223 Month Long on
Thursday, 30th March 2023. The Lecture along with Scientific Competitions was organized in the line of the theme i.e. “Legal Considerations in Oral Health Care” to proliferate the awareness and practice of ethics and jurisprudence among dental students and professionals.
The event was graced by Distinguished Guests- Dr. Waheeda Khan, Dean Faculty of Law, Member – of the University Development Board and Advisor, SGT University, Gurugram; Dr. Omkar Krishna Shetty, Dean, FDSC and other Head of Departments and Faculty Members.
Dr. Shourya Tandon, Associate Dean and Prof and Head gave an overview of the day’s event and on different events conducted by Public Health Dentistry during the month of World Oral Health Day 2023. The lecture was taken by Resource Persons- Dr. Anchal Mittal, Associate
Professor, Faculty of Law, and Ms. Yogita Jain, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, SGT University. The lecture focussed on the Consumer Protection Act, Principles of ethics, Types of Consent, Consequences of Negligence in Dental Practice, Importance of documentation of
patient’s records with case studies. The Speakers highlighted how legal proceedings are strenuous and upsetting to negotiate so it’s always better to prevent. The whole event was coordinated by the student members of the association guided by Dr. Charu Khurana, Dr.
Meenakshi Chopra and Dr. Surbhi Priyadarshi. To make the event more interesting, a scientific competition Newsletter article writing was
organized by the Public Health Dentistry Department for the undergraduate and postgraduate students a week before the event. On the day of the program, speak out session as another category of another scientific competition was conducted where students expressed their views on the theme of the event. More than 50 students registered, and entries sent by the dental students were then evaluated by assigned judges to each category of competition. The Jury for the event comprised of Dr. Puneeta Vohra, Dr. Anurag Bhatnagar, Dr. Pulin Saluja &
Dr. Namrata Dogra. The program was concluded with the announcement and felicitation of all the winners Ms. Srishti Mittal (BDS 3 rd Yr), Ms. Muskan Kalra (BDS Intern), Ms. Surbhi Singla (BDS 3 rd Year) in Newsletter article writing category and Ms. Prachi Sikri (BDS 3Yr), Ms. Aleena (BDS 3 rd Year), Ms. Mehak Bhardwaj (BDS 3 rd Year) and Ms. Rashmit (BDS Intern) in the speak out session. The celebration of this event was a huge success which attempted to bring the awareness and messages of ethics and laws in dentistry.
