There is a need to increase awareness about Down syndrome in society: Dr. Subha Chandrasekhar

Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education under the aegis of Academic Association Qabil organized a special awareness and inclusion program on World Down Syndrome Day on Monday. In this program, Founder-Director ANUGRAHAM Fulbright Scholar, Arizona State University ADA Fellow, University of Minnesota Dr. Subha Chandrashekhar was the keynote speaker. In her speech, she discussed how to raise awareness in society about Down syndrome, children with Down syndrome can get their rightful place in society so that they can be self-reliant. Along with this, she told through example that today many down syndromes have established employment for themselves through self-employment. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, SGT University Professor Dr. Navdeep Singh Tung was the chief guest, and Dean, Faculty of Education Professor Dr. Madhavi Sharma was the patron in the program. Dean, Faculty of Education Professor Dr. Madhavi Sharma in her speech told that one child per 1000 children in the world is born with Down syndrome, usually, these children can do all normal tasks they just need better training, with the right training and care, these children can be given a better place in the society.
