Workshop on awareness on Cyberbullying and Cyberstalking held at SGT University

The Central Academic Association of the SGT University organized an online workshop on January 21 to sensitize and create awareness among students of all faculties to prevent cyberbullying. 

Nearly 360 students attended the program. The advisors, co-advisors of Academic Associations, faculty members, and some officers from SGT University also joined in the workshop to spread its significance and encourage students to develop healthy practices while using social media and internet services.

In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor of SGT University, Dr. O.P Kalra, welcomed the participants and briefed them on the significance of discipline needed in using online internet services and protecting ourselves. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Admin), SGT University, Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, welcomed the Keynote Speakers and reinstated the necessity of such a workshop for the benefit of the students. Later he flagged the session to start.

The two veteran Cybersecurity Experts Krishna Sastry Pendyala from Ernst & Young and CH Kumar from PwC India, guided the audience on cyberstalking context, related laws, policies, protections from threats, and technical tit-bits to stay protected. The coverage included prevailing legal sections, cyber laws in India – I4C, IT Acts relating to IPC. The experts clarified the necessity to protect from various loopholes in free tools that usually attract all. An interactive session with the experts answered the participants’ queries for the day elaborately.

The student-moderators Ananya G and Abhishek elegantly steered the program studded by top officials of SGT University, veteran industry experts, and a large number of students participants. Students learned to practice and spread the awareness messages to others for a safe and clean play on our inevitable presence in the digital domain and internet applications.
