India clinched the title by defeating Nepal by seven wickets in a one-sided final at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on Sunday. The bowlers delivered a disciplined performance that restricted Nepal to 114 runs for 5 wickets, and India completed the chase in just 12 overs, reflecting the team’s exceptional control and confidence.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Congratulations to the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for making history by winning the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup! More commendable is the fact that they remained unbeaten in the series. This is indeed a historic sporting achievement, a shining example of hard work, teamwork, and determination. Each player is a champion!” He added that the team’s victory would inspire generations and strengthen India’s growing sporting culture, especially in para-sports.

Dominant Run Throughout the Tournament

India’s campaign was marked by consistent victories over some of the strongest teams. During the league stage, they defeated Sri Lanka, Australia, Nepal, the USA, and Pakistan. They then once again triumphed over Australia in the semi-final, reaffirming their superiority.

Blind cricket is played with a special white plastic ball filled with ball bearings, which helps players follow the sound. This format continues to gain international recognition, and India’s historic win has significantly contributed to its global journey.
