PM Modi Charts Vision for Future-Ready Indian Diplomacy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined a forward-looking roadmap for India’s diplomatic strategy during his address at the 11th Heads of Mission (HoM) Conference held in New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of strengthening India’s global engagement and called for a concerted effort in trade, technology, and strategic partnerships, as well as deeper connections with the Indian diaspora worldwide.
The Ministry of External Affairs organized the three-day conference from April 28 to 30, focusing on the theme “Reforming Indian Diplomacy for 2047.” This theme aligns with India’s long-term vision as the country approaches 100 years of independence. The event brought together Indian ambassadors and high commissioners from around the globe to discuss evolving global dynamics and India’s role in influencing them.
During his address, PM Modi highlighted the necessity for diplomats to actively promote India’s national interests abroad while showcasing the country’s growth narrative, often referred to as the “Bharat story.” He encouraged missions to focus on the “3Ts”—Trade, Technology, and Tourism—as key pillars to enhance India’s global presence.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated the conference and stressed the significance of adaptive and future-ready diplomacy in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
Throughout the conference, participants engaged in various activities, including yoga sessions, brainstorming discussions, tabletop exercises, and thematic deliberations. These sessions addressed crucial topics such as emerging technologies, geopolitical developments, and innovative diplomatic practices.
The conference served as a platform to align India’s diplomatic missions with national priorities and prepare them to navigate global challenges effectively. With a clear vision for 2047, the discussions reinforced India’s commitment to becoming a leading global player through proactive and strategic diplomacy.
