Pune Fort Death Case: Fiancée and Friend Arrested in Alleged Murder Plot

What was initially reported as a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort near Pune has now become one of the most shocking crime stories in Maharashtra this year. The death of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal, who was preparing for his wedding later this year, is now being investigated as a planned murder.

Ketan, a resident of Gahunje near Pune and a director in his family’s real estate business, died on June 19 after falling nearly 400 feet into a valley at Lohagad Fort in the Lonavala region. According to the initial version of events, he reportedly lost his balance while taking photographs near a cliff amid strong winds and fell into the gorge. Following a challenging rescue operation, police registered an accidental death case and began routine investigations.

However, the case took a dramatic turn when investigators uncovered evidence suggesting that Ketan’s death may not have been an accident after all. Police now allege that his fiancée, 20-year-old Siya Praveen Goyal, and her alleged lover, 22-year-old Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, conspired to kill him.

According to investigators, Ketan and Siya climbed the fort together on the day of the incident, while Chaudhary allegedly followed them separately. Police claim that the two accused pushed Ketan off the cliff and later attempted to make the incident appear accidental. After the fall, Siya reportedly raised an alarm and contacted Ketan’s family to create the impression of a tragic mishap.

The breakthrough in the case came when police reviewed security camera footage and spotted a man wearing a hoodie entering the fort area. Investigators later identified him as Chaudhary, who allegedly covered his face to avoid recognition. Further inquiries revealed that he had left his mobile phone at home and used another person’s device to communicate with Siya through WhatsApp, allegedly in an attempt to avoid detection.

Information provided by Ketan’s family about recent disputes in the relationship, combined with technical evidence and call records, strengthened the police’s suspicions. After being questioned, both accused were detained and later arrested.

The investigation is still ongoing as police continue to examine the motive and gather additional evidence. What was supposed to mark the beginning of a new chapter in Ketan Agarwal’s life has now ended in a heartbreaking and deeply disturbing crime case.
