J&K Police Releases Travel Advisory Ahead Of Amarnath Yatra 2026
As preparations intensify for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued a comprehensive traffic and travel advisory to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage season. The yatra is scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 28, and authorities are gearing up for the arrival of thousands of devotees from across the country.
The advisory is aimed at pilgrims, tourists, and daily commuters who will be traveling through key routes during the yatra period. According to officials, special traffic regulations have been introduced to manage the movement of pilgrimage convoys and to avoid congestion on important highways.
One of the major changes involves traffic movement through the Navyug Tunnel. Vehicles traveling from Kashmir to Jammu will not be allowed to cross the tunnel before 11:30 AM, and those moving from Jammu to Kashmir will not be permitted to enter after 3 PM. These restrictions will remain in place throughout the yatra period to facilitate the smooth passage of pilgrim convoys.
Authorities have also announced cut-off timings at several locations in the Valley. Vehicles traveling from Mir Bazar towards Srinagar and Anantnag must cross designated points before specific deadlines. Officials believe these measures will help reduce delays and improve overall traffic management.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of India’s most significant religious pilgrimages, attracting lakhs of devotees every year. With a large number of visitors expected again in 2026, the administration is focusing heavily on safety, coordination, and traffic planning.
Police officials have urged all travelers to stay updated with official advisories and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty. They have also requested pilgrims to plan their journeys according to the notified timings.
As the countdown to the yatra begins, authorities emphasize that public cooperation will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, peaceful, and well-organized pilgrimage season for everyone traveling through Jammu and Kashmir.
