Delhi Launches Four New Tourism Circuits
Delhi is adopting a new approach to tourism by introducing four tourism circuits that highlight its most significant spiritual, religious, and heritage landmarks. These circuits were launched by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Spiritual & Heritage Tourism Conclave 2026, held at the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. The initiative aims to encourage visitors to explore the capital beyond its famous monuments and experience its rich cultural diversity more intimately.
The conclave, themed “Delhi: The Capital of Spirituality, Heritage, and Experiences,” focused on promoting Delhi as more than just a city that people pass through. The government hopes to transform the capital from a “transit city” into a destination where tourists stay longer, explore various neighborhoods, and immerse themselves in the city’s many layers.
The four circuits are named Soul of Delhi, Heritage of Delhi, Delhi’s Sacred Harmony, and Echoes of Delhi. Developed by Delhi Tourism, these circuits connect different locations across the city to create cohesive travel experiences. Notable sites included are Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Agrasen ki Baoli, Lotus Temple, and Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple.
Additional destinations featured across the circuits include the Ancient Hanuman Temple, Digambar Jain Lal Mandir, Dr. Ambedkar Memorial, Purana Qila, and Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, the Buddhist Temple, Church of Redemption, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Chhatarpur Temple, and Linga Bhairavi Sannidhanam are also part of these curated experiences.
The objective of this initiative is to offer visitors a comprehensive view of Delhi, not only connecting tourist spots but also allowing them to experience the city’s spirituality, architecture, history, food, folk traditions, and various faiths in a single journey.
During the event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the government’s desire for tourists to spend more than just a few hours or a single day in Delhi. Longer stays, she noted, could provide opportunities for hotels, restaurants, tour operators, local guides, and small businesses.
The conclave was attended by spiritual guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, DTTDC Managing Director and CEO Suneel Anchipaka, along with other officials. Through these four circuits, Delhi aims to transform its diverse heritage into a more connected and immersive tourism experience for visitors from both India and abroad.
