Delhi Records 695 Dengue Cases in 2026
Delhi has reported 98 new dengue cases in early October, taking the total number of cases recorded in the national capital this year to 695, according to the latest data.
September witnessed the highest monthly rise in dengue cases, with 286 cases reported during the month. The increase has prompted authorities to intensify preventive and vector-control measures across the city as mosquito-borne diseases remain a seasonal public health concern.
Alongside dengue, Delhi has recorded 266 malaria cases so far this year. Of these, 23 cases were reported in October, while September recorded 124 cases. Chikungunya cases have reached 29, including two cases reported in October.
Despite the reported cases, no deaths due to dengue, malaria or chikungunya have been recorded in Delhi in 2026 so far.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has stepped up efforts to control mosquito breeding and prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases. As part of its campaign, civic teams have conducted more than 3.18 crore house visits across the city.
During these inspections, mosquito breeding sites were identified in around 1.89 lakh homes. Authorities have also taken enforcement measures, including issuing legal notices, initiating prosecutions and collecting penalties where violations were found.
The intensified campaign focuses on identifying and eliminating potential breeding grounds, particularly stagnant water sources where mosquitoes can reproduce.
Health authorities continue to stress the importance of preventive measures, including keeping surroundings clean, avoiding stagnant water accumulation and taking steps to prevent mosquito bites.
With dengue and other vector-borne diseases showing increased activity during the season, continued surveillance and community participation remain important. The latest figures underline the need for residents and civic authorities to work together to reduce mosquito breeding and minimise the risk of further transmission across Delhi.
