Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology conducts a Field Visit to American Oncology Institute
Advanced Stomato-diagnostician Association under the aegis of Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council conducted a Field Visit to American Oncology Institute (AOI), Aarvy Healthcare Super Specialty Hospital, Sector 90, Gurgaon on 15.12.2022 (Thursday) from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
A total of 16 Interns, 4 Postgraduate students, and 3 Faculty members- Dr. Astha Chaudhry, Professor, and In-charge, Dr. Puneeta Vohra, Professor, Dr. Komal Sharma, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology visited the Facility of AOI.
A complete tour of the facility was given by Dr. Sheh Rawat, MD, Senior consultant at Radiation Oncology AMERICAN ONCOLOGY INSTITUTE (AOI), Fellow ICRETT (USA), Editor-in-chief of the Asian Journal of Oncology, and his team.
Dr. Sheh Rawat very enthusiastically demonstrated various Radiotherapy procedures for Cancer patients. Medical Linear Accelerator Machine (LINAC), PET Scan, and Fusion Imaging for External Beam Radiation Treatment of Cancer patients were shown along with their functionality. The procedure of Radiotherapy immobilization mask moldings like a vacuum and thermoplastic mold systems for cancer patients was also demonstrated. Various latest Cancer treatment modalities such as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy and Image Guided Radiotherapy with real-time live monitoring of the patient and Tele-Radiotherapy of the cancer patient were also shown to the students.
Following the tour of the facility, the students asked their queries which were answered by Dr. Sheh Rawat and his cancer management team with great zeal and enthusiasm. Overall the field trip was a great success.
