The Faculty of Dental Sciences conducts an oral health screening program at Salwan Boys’ Senior Secondary School.
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, SGT University conducted an oral health screening program on Monday 12th December 2022 (Monday) at Salwan Boys’ Senior Secondary School, Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi.
The Dental team took the initiative in collaboration with the SGT Admissions team. It was headed by Dr. Charu Khurana (Senior Lecturer, Department of Public Health Dentistry) with 2 postgraduate students Dr. Anushi (Department of Pedodontics) and Dr. Sakshi (Department of Orthodontics) along with 6 Interns Shiwani, Shalley, Savari, Sneha, Tanisha, and Yashi and 1 attendant Mr. Sunil. A total of 328 boys from classes IX-XII were examined for their oral health status. Along with students, an oral health examination was done for some of the teachers and supporting staff members in the school.
An oral health talk session was delivered, including the importance of brushing, the procedure of mouthwash usage, and oral hygiene instructions. The dental team also answered doubts regarding toothbrushing techniques, oral hygiene products, and questions raised by students during oral health talk sessions. Oral Health Education was imparted regarding the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle through brushing techniques, models, and charts. The purpose of the Oral Health drive was to create awareness among the students and make them understand the importance of oral health care. Students who required dental treatment were referred to SGT Dental hospital for further treatment.
