Expert talk on “Merges of space and physiotherapy- Past, Present and Future’ by Faculty of Physiotherapy

Faculty of Physiotherapy organized an Expert talk on the topic “Merges of space and physiotherapy- Past, Present and Future’. Mr. Nitin Kumar Arora was the expert in the session.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Pooja Anand Dean, FPHY, after which Dr. Ejaz Hussain Dean, Allied Health Sciences also addressed the students and explained to them the importance of new emerging fields and technologies in Physiotherapy. Dr.Rakesh Sharma (Pro chancellor) also shared his experience with space nutrition and shared his words of wisdom with the crowd. It was Followed by a lamp lightening ceremony.

Talk was initiated with an introduction from the speaker. He invited Dr. Daniel Belavy who talked to us via video call and shared his insights. He talked about the prevalence of IV Disc Herniation among Astronauts. Key points of today’s talk were changes in various bodily systems and postures, astronaut training programs, and future perspectives in space PT. The highlight of the talk was various physiotherapeutic techniques that are required for astronauts while they are in space and space training that we teach the astronauts for injury prevention. After the talk, Dr. Vikas Dhawan (Pro-vice chancellor- Academics) appreciated the expert and shared his experiences with the students. The event ended with a thank you note from Dr. Karishma Chawla (Assistant Professor)
