Faculty of Dental Sciences conducts an oral health and treatment screening program at Mussepur Village
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, SGT University conducted an oral health screening and treatment programme on Tuesday at Mussepur Village, Rewari in association Social Development and Women Empowerment Organization.
The Dental team along with the Medical Team participated in the rural activity. The Dental team was headed by Dr. Meenakshi Chopra (Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry) along with 3 postgraduates Dr Sarojini (Prosthodontics), Dr Lalit (Endodontics), Dr Harjeet Yadav (Oral Surgery) and 5 Interns Savari, Nisha, Aditi, Rashmit, Lokesh and 2 attendants Mr Sunil and Mr Darshan. A total of 66 patients were examined. Of which 20 patients were provided treatment (3 Extractions and 17 oral prophylaxis) in Mobile Dental Van on camp site. Oral Hygiene Kit and medicines were distributed to the needy patients. Patients who required complex treatment were referred to Dental Hospital in SGT University. Oral health education was imparted to the people and proper brushing technique was demonstrated to both adult and child patients.
The general population gave positive feedback and appreciated the check up and treatment provided by the Dental Team. They acknowledged the way the Dental team heard and attended to their problems with compassion and were appreciative of the oral health education and counselling disseminated to them. The interns appreciated the opportunity provided to them to interact with patients at a community setting leading to improvement in their soft skills and approach towards patients in an outreach location, they also expressed their wish to participate in such activities in the future. The purpose of the dental camp was to create awareness in the community towards the importance of oral health.
