Faculty of Dental Sciences organized a health check-up camp including medical as well as oral health screening

A health check-up camp including medical as well as oral health screening and treatment was
organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT
University on 8th May 2023 (Monday) at RWA GC Society, Palam Vihar, Gurugram in
association with SGT Publicity Team.
Dr. Surbhi Priyadarshi (Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Public Health Dentistry) headed the dental
team along with 2 postgraduate students Dr. Nimisha (Dept. of Endodontics), Dr Harshita (Dept.
of Prosthodontics) and 4 interns Garima, Jagriti, Mansi, and Mumtaz. Mr. Darshan (Attendant)
accompanied us. A dental checkup of 64 individuals including 31 males and 33 females from
different age groups was done.
Twelve patients were provided treatment (partial oral prophylaxis, restorations, and extractions)
in the Mobile dental van at the campsite. Along with the screening, a health talk was delivered
simultaneously on how to take care of the teeth, the importance of brushing, and proper brushing
technique. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and oral mouthwashes were distributed to the needy
population. Satisfactory feedback was obtained from the general population. All queries
regarding toothbrushing techniques were explained individually to the patients.
The patients cherished the chance to interact with the dentists to enquire and gain knowledge
about their oral health and maintain good oral hygiene. The patients were also given referral
slips and were referred to SGT University for further needful treatment.
The purpose of the dental camp was to create awareness in the community towards the
importance of oral health and motivate them for their oral hygiene maintenance.
