IPL 2025: 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Hits 35-Ball Century, Becomes Youngest T20 Centurion

Jaipur, April 28 — In a night of pure cricketing magic, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi shattered records and captured hearts as he smashed a 35-ball century during Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans. The teenage sensation from Bihar became the youngest male cricketer ever to score a century in Twenty20 cricket, eclipsing a decade-old record previously held by Vijay Zol.

Playing only his third IPL match, the left-handed opener played a dream innings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, hitting a whirlwind 101 off just 38 balls. His stunning knock included 11 sixes and 7 boundaries, helping Rajasthan Royals chase down a daunting 210-run target in just 15.5 overs and snapping their five-match losing streak.

Vaibhav got to his half-century in just 17 balls and completed his hundred in the next 18, bringing up the milestone in iconic fashion with a towering six over mid-wicket off Rashid Khan, one of the most feared bowlers in global T20 cricket.

What stood out was not just his strokeplay, but his fearless intent. Vaibhav took on elite bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma, and Karim Janat with remarkable composure. His attacking spree included a 30-run over against Janat, where he struck three sixes and three fours — a moment that sent the Jaipur crowd into a frenzy.

He eventually departed in the 12th over, bowled by Prasidh Krishna, but by then, he had scripted a fairytale. His 166-run opening partnership was the highest for Rajasthan Royals in IPL history.

As he walked back to the pavilion, every Gujarat Titans player shook his hand. In an emotional moment, Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid, seated in a wheelchair due to an injury, rose and gave the youngster a standing ovation — a rare gesture from the cricketing legend.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was signed for ₹1.1 crore after a remarkable domestic season, is now the talk of the cricketing world. His fearless attitude and explosive talent have already drawn comparisons with IPL greats. If this knock is any indication, the future of Indian cricket has truly arrived — and it’s wearing the No. 14 jersey.
