Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: BJP Leads, Faces Strong Challenge from INDIA Alliance
Reported by Harsh Kumar
As the votes are being counted for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, early results indicate that the BJP-led NDA is ahead, but the opposition alliance, INDIA, is putting up a tough fight. Uttar Pradesh, a key battleground, is seeing intense competition between the two sides, highlighting the broader ideological clash in these elections.
Poll experts had anticipated a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but the INDIA alliance’s strong performance has surprised many.
Prime Minister Modi led the BJP’s campaign, attending over 200 public meetings, rallies, and roadshows. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, held joint rallies to maximize their impact.
Vote counting began at 8 AM with tight security measures in place. EVM votes started being counted 30 minutes after the postal ballots. This election is notable for being the second-longest in India’s history since the first in 1951-52. To form the government, a party or coalition needs to secure a majority of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha.
Stay tuned for more updates as the counting progresses!
