National Oral Medicine and Radiology Day celebrated in SGT University

Advanced Stomato-Diagnostician Association under the aegis of the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University celebrated “National Oral Medicine and Radiology Day 2022” on 23rd and 25th April 2022.

As part of the 2-day-long celebration, multiple fun-filled activities were conducted on 23rd April 2022 for BDS Third Year, BDS Final Year students, and Interns of the Faculty of Dental Sciences.

On 25th April 2022, an International webinar on “Oral Medicine and Private Practice” by Dr. Sumanth K.N, Prof and Head, Melaka Manipal Dental College, Malaysia was organized at 10:00 am.

This program was specially targeted to the interns, BDS final year students, and BDS third-year students to apprise them about the scope and utility of OMR. Sir, deliberated on the importance of Oral Medicine in general dental practice and specialty practice. He also elaborated on the various opportunities and scope of OMR Internationally. The international webinar was attended by more than 90 participants. This included the faculty members and students from various Dental colleges across the nation including MCODS Manipal, Jamia Milia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Bapuji  Dental College Davangere, VS Dental College Bangalore, and many more.

This was followed by a Valedictory ceremony which was held at 2:00 pm in T.V Studio, B Block. The Valedictory ceremony was graced by Dr. Sham Lal Singla Sir, Advisor, SGT University, Dr. Satish Chander Sharma, Director IQAC, Dr. Omkar Shetty, Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Heads of departments, faculty members, and students.

The Valedictory session included a presentation of all the fun activities that were conducted on 25th April 2022 through a video compilation. This was followed by a presentation on the “Importance of Oral Medicine and Radiology” through a skit by Interns and Final year students.

The winners of the competitions and the skit participants were felicitated by the presentation of a certificate of appreciation by the dignitaries.

The winners of various competitions were as follows:

a) Pictionary Riddle: Swastik Dugar and Trisha(BDS Third year)

b) Pile up the lesion: Deepika Singh(BDS Final Year)

c) Recognize and Memorize: Manya and Mallika(Interns)

d) Drip the Aphabet: Deepika Singh(BDS Final Year)

e) Tracing with Time: Meera Nair(Intern)

The organizing chairperson of the program was Dr. Astha Chaudhry, Associate professor, and In-charge, Dept ofOMR and the coordinator for the event was Dr. Vishesh Yadav, Reader, OMR.

Overall, all the students and faculty members thoroughly enjoyed the 2-day program and the program was a grand success.
