Neeraj Chopra Claims Silver at Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025 in Poland

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra continued his stellar 2025 season by clinching the silver medal at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial held in Chorzów, Poland. The prestigious Athletics Continental Tour Silver-level event saw Neeraj rise to the second spot with a final throw of 84.14 meters in his sixth attempt.

The competition was fierce, with Germany’s Julian Weber taking gold with a first-round throw of 86.12m, setting the benchmark early. Grenada’s Anderson Peters, a strong competitor, settled for bronze with 83.24m, narrowly edged out by Neeraj’s late surge.

Neeraj, who had earlier stunned the athletics world with a personal-best 90.23m throw at the Doha leg of the Diamond League, showed consistent form despite falling short of another 90 m+ effort.

The event also marked an important milestone for Weber, who recently breached the 90m mark for the first time with a massive 91.06m throw in Doha, narrowly defeating Neeraj in that meet.

This silver medal keeps Neeraj’s momentum alive as he prepares for major upcoming global championships. His resilience, strategic throws, and ability to peak under pressure once again proved why he remains one of the most formidable javelin throwers on the world stage.

  • Gold – Julian Weber (Germany) – 86.12m

  • Silver – Neeraj Chopra (India) – 84.14m

  • Bronze – Anderson Peters (Grenada) – 83.24m
