Open House ‘A Basket of Opportunities’ organised by Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology

The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, SGT University, Gurugram, organized an Open House “A Basket of Opportunities” for aspirants of the Journalism and Mass Communication course.
Mr. Keshav Kumar, Anchor, Haryana News, and Ms. Swati Thakur, Anchor, India News, both alumni of the university, were the guest speakers. Both the speakers shared their experiences. They informed the participants that the skills they attained while studying at SGT University helped them in making footholds in the media industry.
Mr. Keshav Kumar said that the Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology equips you with the best skills and you get to work in the state-of-the-art infrastructure, but your success and failure depend on how keen you are to succeed.
Ms. Swati Thakur said that since her childhood she always wanted to become a news anchor, as she was more fascinated by the presentations of the anchors than any sportsperson or film actors. She said working for the SGT Times New Channel of the SGT University gave her confidence and when she eventually landed at India News as an anchor, it seemed business as usual to her.
Prof. Sushil Manav, Dean, Mass Communication and Media Technology, said that media education and job avenues in journalism and mass communication have evolved during the past two decades with the advancements in Information and Technology. He said that now, students of journalism and mass communication have a myriad of lucrative options to choose from after graduating. Prof. Manav said that SGT University has one of the best state-of-the-art infrastructures in Delhi NCR.
