Hollywood action director Adam Richards enthral

SGT University, Gurugram organized a visit by Mr. Adam Richards- 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 expert on 30th June 2022 for an interaction session with the students on the shooting floor of A Block in the campus. 

Despite the gloomy and rainy weather outside, the event began with high enthusiasm and excitement as Mr. Richards, with twelve years of experience on the stunt register performing both film and stage, his passion for martial arts, creator of his own style “Kuen Tao,” seven different Black Belts, weapon skills, and love of fight directing, shared his experiences working with various actors and martial art legends like Jackie Chan, and how such experiences refined him as a martial artist and actor.

Dr. Radhika Rai welcomed Mr. Richards and Mr. Pankaj Rakesh had a tete-a-tete with him about his experiences in films such as The Ghost Rider as the man with his head on fire, Red Power Ranger, and other notable performances.

The discussion then turned to questions from students who were curious about the skill of stunt directing and what goes on behind the scenes. Mr. Richards discussed his experience with fire stunts and even went into depth about some of the injuries he had on set. He then spoke about Martial Arts and self-defense, asking students on onstage to demonstrate a few feats and tactics necessary for self-defense. Students were quite excited to participate in such an engaging workshop.

Dr. Swaran Lata wrapped the workshop by taking the platform and chatting with the students. Mr. Richards concluded his remarks with a jubilant Jai Hind and Bharat Mata Ki Jai, leaving the audience in awe. As a sign of memory, the Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology Prof Sushil Manav presented Mr. Adam Richards with a memento of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji. Dr. Vijay Sharma, Dean, Students’ Welfare, Dr. Ravi Tomar, Additional DSW, Dr. Sarju Devi, HoD, Centre for Languages and Communication and several other faculty members were present.
