Workshop on suicide prevention

Department of Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, organized a one day Workshop on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day. The topic of the workshop was “Suicide prevention Assessment and Prevention: Where do we stand?”
The resource person of the event was Dr.  Bhaskaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, SGT University.
The event started with the welcome of the resource person by Dr. Shallu Joon Followed by an introduction about the Importance of suicide prevention by Dr. Rajbir Singh, Dean FBS and Dr. Naresh Kumar Chandel. Dr. Vikas Sharma highlighted the need of workshop and elaborated about suicidal behaviour.
Dr. Randhir Singh Yadava, in next session of workshop elaborated about current scenario of suicide.  Ms Chandani Pandey discussed various psychological tools to assess suicidal ideations. Finally Dr Bhaskaran shared important tips to handle patients with suicidal ideations. He also covered challenges faced by the therapist and ethical and legal issues involved in the same. In the end, the forum was opened for queries, doubts, and insightful discussions.
The event ended on a positive note with a vote of thanks by Ms. Shreshta Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Dept of clinical psychology, FBS.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Shallu Joon, Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology, FBS.
