Operation Sindoor to be Part of NCERT Modules for Classes 3 to 12
In a significant move to enhance national defense awareness in schools, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is preparing to release special modules on Operation Sindoor for students in Classes 3 to 12. This initiative is part of NCERT’s broader effort to provide supplemental learning materials that extend beyond standard textbooks.
According to sources from the Ministry of Education, two distinct modules are currently being developed: one for Classes 3 to 8 and another for Classes 9 to 12. Each module will be 8 to 10 pages long and will present the events and achievements of Operation Sindoor in an engaging and age-appropriate manner. These modules will not be included in the main textbooks but will serve as additional reading material for schools to enrich classroom discussions.
Operation Sindoor was a strategic military campaign launched by the Indian Armed Forces in May, aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation followed the Pahalgam terror attack in April and is viewed as a strong response that showcases India’s defense capabilities.
Through stories, activities, and real-life examples, the modules will emphasize India’s preparedness, the bravery of its armed forces, and the consequences of the operation. The goal is to raise students’ awareness of India’s military strength and highlight Pakistan’s defeat during the operation, thereby fostering a sense of national pride and security consciousness.
This initiative follows a series of NCERT’s thematic modules that have already addressed topics such as COVID-19 and its impact, India’s digital progress, the Chandrayaan-3 mission, cleanliness, and the G20 Summit held in India in 2023. These modules are freely available on the NCERT website and aim to supplement formal education with current and relevant national developments.
As the monsoon session of Parliament prepares to discuss both the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor next week, this educational initiative ensures that the younger generation stays informed about key national events, not just through news but also through classroom conversations.
