Panel discussion on ‘Supreme Court’s Abortion Ruling’ held

Speak Out, a forum launched by the Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, to inculcate critical thinking among students and develop traits of debates among them, organised a panel discussion on various aspects of Supreme Court’s Abortion Ruling on October 20, 2022 . Prof. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Pro Chancellor, inaugurated the event. He appreciated the initiative taken by the faculty and said it would bring confidence among students.
Welcoming the Chief Guest and the panelists, . Sushil Manav, Dean, Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, said that ever since the Supreme Court has delivered  it’s landmark ruling on abortions, the verdict is being hailed by women activists and organisations since it empowers women to take a decision with regard to abortion subject to some conditions. The judgement assumes greater importance because it came months after US Supreme Court overturned its own 1973 decision that enshrined constitutional right to abortion to women for over 50 years. Ms. Arvinder Kaur Pabla moderated the event. Ms. Monika Sharma, Centre from Languages and Communication, Mr. Asad Habib, Faculty of Engineering, Mr. Kumal Yawal, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Ms. Yogita Jain, Faculty of Law, Dr Bindoo Yadav, Faculty of Medicine and Health, and Dr. Aastha Dhingra, Faculty of Behavioural Science participated in the event.
