Punjab & Haryana State Legal Service Organizes Exhibition To Celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Chandigarh, November 12: Punjab & Haryana State Legal Service Authorities, in collaboration with Punjab & Haryana High Court Legal Service Committee under the aegis of National Legal Service Authority, celebrated ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ 75 years of Independence by organizing an exhibition in the premises of Haryana and Punjab High Court here in Chandigarh, which was inaugurated by the Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court & Patron in Chief, State Legal Service Authority, Justice Ravi Shankar Jha.

The exhibition showcased the History of Judicial Administration, Process of Justice Delivery, Achievements of Justice Delivery System in the last 75 years, along with the Legal Aid System and various other functions. The aforesaid exhibition was held in pursuance of guidelines issued by the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, being a part of PAN India Awareness “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” – a six-week-long nationwide campaign from October 2, 2021, to November 14, 2021.

During the said exhibition, paintings made by the students under Student Legal Literacy Mission were displayed representing the social issues prevailing in society such as Dowry, Drug menace, Child Labour, Acid Attacks, Domestic Violence, Cyber Crime etc., as well as rights of different vulnerable groups of society. In order to ensure maximum awareness, Haryana State Legal Services Authority has covered all the villages in Haryana thrice since October 2, 2021, through legal awareness-cum-legal aid camps, service delivery camps, door to door visits, competitions, rallies, exhibitions, awareness campaigns through mobile vans, legal aid help desks at public places etc.

Door-to-door visits were conducted in villages for which the Legal Services Authority has constituted 724 teams that interacted with more than 85,000 villagers and made them aware of their legal rights. 320 Legal Aid Help Desks were set up in Melas/Fairs to educate people about the concept of legal services.

Legal Services Authorities are also spreading awareness by way of holding exhibitions, and a total of 277 exhibitions have been held till date. Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Ajay Tewari, Judge Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, Augustine George Masih, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairperson, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, Ritu Bahri,  Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court and Chairman, Punjab & Haryana High Court Legal Services Committee, Tejinder Singh Dhindsa, with other Hon’ble High Court Judges along with Judicial Officers of Punjab & Haryana High Court, President, Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association along with Members, litigants, staff, general public have graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.
