Raaka Sets Guinness World Record: Allu Arjun–Atlee Film Captures 37 Performers in Real-Time

Hyderabad/Chennai: Allu Arjun and director Atlee’s upcoming magnum opus Raaka has entered the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time”, marking a major technological milestone for Indian cinema.

The record was achieved by simultaneously motion-capturing 37 performers in a single session. The group ranged in age from a four-year-old child to a 70-year-old, demonstrating the scale and complexity of the exercise. While the feat was originally accomplished in February 2026, it was officially certified on 15 September 2026, when the Guinness World Records certificate was presented to Allu Arjun and Atlee at an intimate ceremony in Mumbai attended by key cast and crew.

According to the makers, 92 optical motion-capture cameras were deployed in an advanced technical ecosystem integrating capture, calibration, networking, synchronisation, real-time Unreal Engine visualisation, witness cameras and facial capture systems. The challenge was to accurately record and preserve the individual performances of all 37 participants within a single motion-capture volume, a benchmark previously unmatched in Indian filmmaking.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Raaka stars Allu Arjun alongside Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The film is being positioned as a pan-India spectacle with heavy reliance on VFX and performance-driven digital characters.

In a statement, the team described the achievement as a “global triumph that takes Indian cinema to the world stage”, highlighting how the record underscores India’s growing capabilities in high-end virtual production and real-time rendering.

The makers have also shared a behind-the-scenes video offering a glimpse into the motion-capture setup and the choreography required to synchronise 37 artists in one take.
With its record-breaking technical exercise completed well ahead of release, Raaka is now being closely watched by the industry as a potential benchmark for future large-scale Indian VFX-driven projects.
