SGT University hosts International Interdisciplinary Conference (IIC 2025) on Sustainable Future
SGT University, in a landmark initiative, hosted the International Interdisciplinary Conference (IIC 2025) with a vision to foster academic dialogue and innovation for a sustainable future. Organised jointly by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Mass Communication & Media Technology, the two-day hybrid conference was themed “Rewiring the Future Through Law, Management, Communication Technology and Engineering for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
Held at a time when the world is transitioning into the Industry 5.0 era, IIC 2025 provided a collaborative platform for researchers, policymakers, industry experts, academicians, and students from across the globe. The focus was on exploring how disciplines such as law, media, technology, and management can intersect to address pressing global issues, including sustainability, ethical governance, and technological advancements.
Several dignitaries graced the inaugural session. Justice Harvir Singh, Judge at the Allahabad High Court, served as the Chief Guest, while Justice M.M. Kumar, Former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir High Court, was the Guest of Honor. In her welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Abha Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SGT University, stressed the need for a multidisciplinary approach combining law with humanity, ethics, and technology.
Justice M.M. Kumar highlighted how law can act as a catalyst for innovation, particularly in areas like cyber law and privacy. Justice Harvir Singh emphasized the importance of legal frameworks in maintaining ethical standards and societal balance for sustainable development.
The conference featured insightful keynote sessions by national and international experts, including Prof. Daniel H. Stein and Prof. Chhaya Bhardwaj from OP Jindal Global University, and Prof. Anne-Thida Norodom from Paris Cité University, France. Discussions ranged from ethical innovation to digital governance, with a special emphasis on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
IIC 2025 also saw poster presentations by students and researchers, showcasing real-world applications of interdisciplinary academic work aimed at sustainable impact. These highlighted the university’s commitment to nurturing innovation and practical learning.
The valedictory ceremony welcomed notable guests such as Dr. Mihir Ranjan Patra, Dr. Dilip Kumar, Dr. Vinay Nalwa, Uttam Dutt, Pramod Kumar Dubey, and Sudhir Mishra, Founder of Trust Legal. Mishra remarked that today’s generation needs diversified learning to overcome the mental confinement caused by technological overdependence.
The conference concluded with the announcement of poster-making competition winners, marking the end of an intellectually vibrant and forward-thinking event. IIC 2025 stood out not only as an academic milestone for SGT University but also as a strong call to collaborate across disciplines for a more inclusive, ethical, and sustainable future.
