The Department of Public Health Dentistry conducts oral health screening program

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University conducted oral health screening program on 21st November 2022 (Monday) at R.D. Public Sr. Sec. School, Krishan Vihar, Delhi.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Shourya Tandon (Head of Dept & Associate Dean) in collaboration with the SGT Admissions Marketing Team. Department of Pedodontics collaborated with Public Health Dentistry for the outreach activity.

The Dental team was headed by Dr. Charu Khurana (Department of Public Health Dentistry) along with 1 postgraduate Dr. Sakshi (Postgraduate Pedodontics) and 6 Interns Tanisha Gupta, Shweta, Sneha, Shalley, Shivani, Shipra and 2 attendants Mr. Sunil and Mr. Darshan. A total of 378 students from classes Prep till 12th were examined which included 223 boys and 155 girls. Along with students, oral health examination was done for some of the Teachers and supporting staff in the school. Health Education was imparted regarding the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle through brushing techniques, models and charts. An oral health talk session was taken by Dr. Charu Khurana where she mentioned about the adverse oral habits, oral hygiene importance, ill effects of tobacco consumption. The purpose of the Oral Health drive was to create awareness among the students and make them understand the importance of oral health care. Students who required dental treatment were referred to SGT Dental hospital for further treatment.
