The Department of Public Health Dentistry organizes a guest lecture on “Competencies in Public Health Dentistry”.

The competencies define the specialty for potential collaborators and employers and increase the awareness of the specialty among colleagues within dentistry and other health professions. These competency statements also guide the definition of the standards and
further opportunities for the enhancement of education. Keeping this in mind Innova8 Oral Health Care Academic Association constituted under the Department of Public Health Dentistry organized a guest lecture on 24th February 2023, in a hybrid manner. The Guest lecture “Competencies in Public Health Dentistry” was delivered by Dr. Vikrant Mohanty, Professor & Head, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi. The event held in hybrid mode allowed a greater reach of over 250 participants from all over the country and beyond, alongside more than 100 students of SGT who participated physically. The Lecture was graced with the presence of Dr. Manjunath Puranik, President Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry, who joined us online and blessed us with his insight and wisdom about the topic. Dr. Vikrant Mohanty enlightened the audience on the prime and ‘need of the hour’ topic. He highlighted on competencies and role of public health dentist in the improvement of oral health care and future aspects of the subject with his vast knowledge and experience in the field. The whole event was coordinated by the student member body of the association under the guidance of Advisor, Dr. Meenakshi Chopra, and Co advisors, Dr. Charu Khurana & Dr. Surbhi Priyadarshi. Dr. Shourya Tandon moderated the interaction session. All the participants were positive about the astounding scope of the specialty also showed immense enthusiasm during the guest lecture.
