CBI has issued an email address to register complaints related to crimes against women and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali. CBI has taken this step after the order of the High Court. According to PTI, the official said that the email address sandeshkhali@cbi.gov.in has been issued. It will serve as a platform for the people of Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal to lodge complaints regarding crimes against women and forced land grabbing.

He said, “In compliance with the order passed by the Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court on April 10, 2024, the CBI has created a dedicated email, in which complaints of the people of Sandeshkhali regarding crimes against women and forcible land grabbing can be registered. ”

The official said that the court has ordered the District Magistrate of North 24 Parganas to publicize the email ID extensively in the area and issue a public notice in local newspapers with wide circulation.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam had directed the CBI to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the alleged illegal conversion of agricultural land into water bodies for fish farming.

The court’s decision comes after an incident on January 5, in which Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials were attacked by a mob during a search operation in Sandeshkhali related to the ration distribution scam case in which now-suspended Trinamool Congress leader Shajahan Shaikh was involved.
