116-Year-Old Devotee’s Tirumala Foot Journey Wins Hearts Across India

Age became just a number for Navaneethamma, a 116-year-old devotee from Karnataka, whose extraordinary journey to the Tirumala temple has inspired people across the country. Accompanied by her family, she completed the 9-kilometer Alipiri footpath, climbing nearly 3,550 steps to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Her determination and deep faith quickly caught the attention of thousands after videos of her pilgrimage began circulating on social media.

Her inspiring journey soon came to the attention of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the trust that manages the famous temple in Andhra Pradesh. Moved by her devotion, TTD arranged a special VIP break darshan for Navaneethamma and her family on Monday morning, allowing them to enjoy a peaceful and memorable visit to the temple.

TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra personally welcomed and honored Navaneethamma at the Ranganayakula Mandapam. She was presented with a silk shawl, sacred teertha prasadam, and received Vedic blessings from temple scholars. Devotees appreciated this gesture, seeing it as a fitting recognition of her lifelong faith and commitment.

According to her grandson, Dikpathi, the family had always wished to complete this pilgrimage together. He thanked TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu and the temple administration for making the special darshan possible. He also acknowledged the role of social media, stating that the viral videos helped temple officials identify his grandmother and arrange the honor.

The remarkable pilgrimage also drew praise from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who commended Navaneethamma’s inspiring determination. Her journey has become a symbol of resilience, reminding people that faith and courage can overcome even the greatest physical challenges.

Every year, lakhs of devotees choose to climb the Tirumala hills on foot as an act of devotion. However, seeing someone complete this demanding journey at the age of 116 has inspired many. Navaneethamma’s story is not just about reaching a temple; it is about hope, perseverance, and the strength of belief. In a world often driven by speed, her quiet determination serves as a heartwarming reminder that true devotion has no age limit.
