Heavy Rain Alert Across Haryana as Monsoon Becomes Fully Active

The monsoon season is now fully active across Haryana, bringing consistent rainfall and cooler temperatures to most parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is expected to continue from July 6 to July 11, with the heaviest showers likely occurring on July 7 and 8. The weather department has urged residents to remain cautious, as several districts may experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning during this period.

Among the districts under close watch, Yamunanagar and Panchkula have been placed on a yellow alert due to the possibility of intense rainfall. Waterlogging has already been reported in several low-lying areas, making roads difficult to navigate and affecting the daily commutes of residents. School-going children and office commuters are facing significant challenges as continuous rain slows traffic and disrupts normal movement.

The IMD has also forecast normal to moderate rainfall in districts including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Gurugram, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Rohtak, Jind, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Panipat. Weather officials believe that July 8 could see the most widespread rainfall across the state.

Authorities have warned that continuous rain may lead to waterlogging, rising water levels in seasonal rivers and drains, and traffic disruptions in several areas. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy showers and to stay away from open fields, trees, and electric poles during thunderstorms. Officials encourage people to keep track of the latest weather advisories before venturing outside.

The ongoing rainfall is expected to prevent any significant rise in temperatures over the coming days. Although Sirsa recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 40.8°C, most districts have remained close to normal seasonal levels, providing relief from the intense summer heat.

For farmers, this rainfall is welcome news. Agricultural experts say the showers will support the sowing and growth of kharif crops such as paddy, bajra, and cotton. However, they have also advised farmers in areas experiencing heavy rainfall to ensure proper drainage in their fields to prevent crop damage from excess water. With more rain expected over the next week, Haryana is preparing for both the benefits and challenges of an active monsoon season.
