16 Haryana Men Deported from US, Police Probe Illegal Route
Sixteen men from the Karnal district of Haryana have been deported from the United States and have reunited with their families, officials confirmed on Sunday. These individuals reportedly entered the US through illegal channels after paying significant amounts of money to agents.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandeep, the flight carrying the deported Indians landed in Delhi on Saturday night. The group was then transported to Karnal, where each person was handed over to their respective families. The police have now launched an investigation to trace the “donkey route”—the illegal path often used by individuals trying to enter foreign countries.
This incident is part of a broader trend of Indian nationals being deported from the United States. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), since Donald Trump began his second term as President, 1,563 Indian nationals have been repatriated from the US, primarily via commercial flights.
Between 2017 and 2021, during Trump’s first term, a total of 6,135 Indians were deported, with the highest number recorded in 2019. In contrast, deportations significantly decreased during Joe Biden’s presidency, with around 3,000 Indians being sent back.
Police officials in Haryana are currently investigating how these 16 youths managed to reach the US illegally and who facilitated their travel. The investigation aims to identify and take action against those involved in human trafficking and fake visa scams.
