In a shocking turn of events, a fire erupted at Vallabh Bhawan, the state secretariat in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The fire started on the third floor of the building on Saturday morning, spreading rapidly despite efforts to contain it.

Fire brigade teams rushed to the scene, but their efforts proved futile in controlling the blaze, prompting the Indian Army to be called in for assistance. Soldiers arrived with their firefighting equipment to tackle the flames engulfing the third floor of the building, which houses important government offices.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed concern over the incident, stating that he has instructed the chief secretary to monitor the situation closely and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shraddha Tiwari, reported that fire brigade teams and other emergency responders swiftly responded to the scene, managing to contain the fire on the second, third floor and  fourth floors, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams deployed inside the building for rescue operations. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

However, it’s reminiscent of a similar incident last year when a fire broke out at Satpura Bhawan, the second-largest government office in Madhya Pradesh. Reports suggested that over 12,000 important files were destroyed in the blaze, resulting in significant loss. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as over a thousand people inside the building were evacuated safely.
