Celebrations of National Toothbrushing Day 2022 at SGT University.
National Toothbrushing Day, a day initiated by Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry was celebrated at SGT University by oral health screening and treatment camp on 7th November, 2022 (Monday) at Munda Khera, Asmayalpur, Jhajjar in association with Reliance MET. The Dental team took initiative under the guidance of Dr. Shourya Tandon (Prof. & Head and Associate Dean). The Dental team was headed by Dr. Surbhi (Assistant Professor, PHD department) along with 2 postgraduates Dr. Pranav (Prosthodontics), Dr. Shivansh (Endodontics), 4 Interns- Sanal, Sneha, Shweta, Tanisha and 2 attendants – Mr. Sunil and Mr. Darshan from PHD department. A total of 150 patients were examined which included 78 males and 72 females. Of which 15 patients were provided treatment (oral prophylaxis) in Mobile Dental Van on camp site. Patients who required complex treatment were referred to Dental Hospital in SGT University. Oral health education was imparted to the people and proper brushing technique was demonstrated to both adult and child patients. Toothpastes, Toothbrushes and Oral Mouthwashes were distributed to the needy population.
The general population gave positive feedback and appreciated the check up and treatment provided by the Dental Team. They acknowledged the way the Dental team heard and attended to their problems with compassion and were appreciative of the oral health education and counselling disseminated to them. The interns appreciated the opportunity provided to them to interact with patients at a community setting leading to improvement in their soft skills and approach towards patients in an outreach location, they also expressed their wish to participate in such activities in the future. The purpose of the dental camp was to create awareness in the community towards the importance of oral health.
