Faculty of Commerce and Management organises expert session on Haryana Budget (2022-2023) – A Snapshot

SGT University on Tuesday organized an expert lecture on ‘Haryana Budget (2022-23): A Snapshot’.

Dr. Sunil Phougat, Dean, Social Sciences, Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU), Jind, was the keynote speaker. He said that Haryana contributes around 3% of India’s total GDP and the state ranks 4th in the country after Maharashtra, Punjab, and Goa in terms of average per capita income. Haryana has an average per capita income of Rs 2.75 lakh per annum.

He said that the Haryana government spends more than Rs 40,000 crore on salary and pension which is a sizeable percentage of the Haryana Budget. Dr. Phougat said that the state spends more than 20% of its budget on debt repayment.

Talking about the status of employment in the state, Dr Phougat said that Haryana has a 9.2% unemployment rate between July-2018 to June-2019. Higher than All India’s unemployment rate of 5.8%.

Dr. Phougat said that the Haryana budget should have focused more on addressing the issue of unemployment.
