Faculty of Dental Sciences organizes an Oral health check-up and Treatment Camp at Kherla Village

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized an Oral health check-up and Treatment Camp in collaboration with the SGT Publicity team on 1st June 2023 (Thursday) at Kherla Village, Sohna District, Haryana. The Dental team was headed by Dr. Charu Khurana (Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry) along with 6 BDS Interns Mumtaz, Jatin, Garima, Jagriti, Parikrama, and Komal along with 1 attendant Mr. Sunil. Oral health checkups of a total of 35 individuals were carried out including 16 males and 19 females. Of these, 6 patients were provided professional cleaning of teeth in the Mobile Dental Van of SGT University. All patients suffering from complex dental problems were informed and advised for appropriate dental treatment and referred to the SGT Dental Hospital, Gurugram. Medicines and Oral Hygiene aids such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwashes were also distributed among the attendees of the dental camp. Along with the screening, a health talk was also delivered on the importance of Oral Health, Oral hygiene practices, and adverse oral habits. The activity was conducted with the view of No Tobacco Day also and patients who reported a history of tobacco consumption either in any form of smoking or chewing were explained about its injurious effects not only on their overall health but also harmful to their loved ones around them. They were motivated to quit tobacco and adopt the 5 D’s – Delay, Distract, drink water, deep breathing, and discuss as a part of the tobacco cessation process. They were also informed how every year World No Tobacco Day is Celebrated on 31st May and the importance to take the pledge on this day to stay away from this kind of deleterious habit. All the villagers expressed their gratitude to the dental team for their efforts to make the Oral Health Drive a successful event.
